The TX Democratic Chair Forum

LBJ Dem Chair Forum
LIVE from the historic LBJ Ranch

Saturday: We’re broadcasting the first in-person Texas Democratic Party Chair Candidate Forum, LIVE from the historic LBJ Ranch

There’s new potential for Texas’ “Big Tent Party” in search of its new head, and we’re here to make sure you stay up-to-date on the race. This Saturday, January 25, at 2PM, on the grounds of the historic President Lyndon Baines Johnson Ranch, several Texans will vie for the opportunity to transform the TDP back into the powerhouse days of Barbara Jordan, LBJ, and Ann Richards to serve the people of Texas, not corrupt billionaires and extremist special interests.

An authoritarian extremist ruling party deserves a strong, united opposition, and in just weeks, the Texas Democratic Party’s executive committee will choose the person to lead that opposition. The winner will lead after longtime party chair, Gilberto Hinojosa, announced his resignation after serving for 12 years. The new chair will be elected by rank choice vote and is expected to be the first salaried chair.

The Texas Democratic Party’s new and modern chair must listen to all voices in its diverse ranks, improve financial transparency and strategic planning, as well as conduct an awareness campaign promoting the party’s economic and social platforms. At the forum, in partnership with the Texas Progressive Caucus, registered TDP chair candidates will answer questions on topics including the 2024 election, platforms, their experience, and the strategic messaging needed to lead our opposition through the resistance. The hybrid event will be streamed on Progress Texas social media platforms live from the LBJ Ranch State Park, but we’ll also have an official post-day recording and analysis via the Progress Texas Podcast.
