The 89th Texas Legislature, long a looming and drudgerous prospect for progressives across the Lone Star State, is almost here - it's underway on Tuesday January 14.
Over the last few weeks, we've been interviewing members of the Democratic delegation for their inside views on what to expect from a session that will be packed with Republican culture war. Trump election hubris, along with a fresh infusion of inexperienced, ultra-MAGA freshmen GOP electeds thanks to Greg Abbott and Ken Paxton's individual crusades against their own party members over private school vouchers and Paxton's impeachment grievances will likely lend an even more radical and even less professional tone to the proceedings.
We asked a handful of Democrats from the Texas Senate and House what they believe they're up against, and what progressives in Texas can do to support them.
