Celebrate Voting Rights in Dallas with Progress Texas Institute and Legal Defense Fund

Join Progress Texas Institute and the Legal Defense Fund in Dallas for a live podcast taping, featuring former Dallas City Council Member for District 3 Casey ThomasGrand Prairie City Council Mayor Pro Tem Junior Ezeonu, and Tarrant County Commissioner Alisa Simmons—honoring the years since this milestone passed and a review of where voting rights stand today, amid redistricting threats.

This month, patriotic Americans will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act passed under President and Texas native Lyndon Baines Johnson. Extremists have been working to overturn it since, and now their racist redistricting map is out.

Jim Crow 2.0 is targeting Black and Brown Texans, focused on stealing voting power more than half a century after equal voting rights were cemented by a coalition of strong leaders in the civil rights movement and beyond. 60 years later, white guys are still calling each other and saying how Brown and Black citizens can vote.

Help us shine a spotlight on the truth—from our coalition work introducing the Barbara Jordan Texas Voting Rights Act in the 89th Legislative Session, to rapid response coverage of stop the steal rallies (attended in-person by thousands and digitally brought to hundreds of thousands), to shaping the narrative in legacy media, and ongoing podcasts with lawmakers and allies like the LDF. We are all over, and reaching millions of Gen X, millennial, and Gen Z Texans.
