Early Voting Continues Until Friday, November 1

TEXAS – Stamped with “I Voted” stickers, our neighbors are showing up in record-breaking early voting numbers across the state compared to 2022, 2020, 2018, and 2016, even in suburban and rural counties. The November 5th General Election is days away now, and more than 15% of Texans have already lined up at the polls.

This year, Texas hit a new state record with nearly 85% of eligible Texans, or 18.6 million people, registered to vote. Texans are demonstrating their trust in our election process — with Tarrant, Bexar, Travis, Collin, Denton, Fort Bend, Montgomery, Williamson, Hays, Comal, Guadalupe, Bastrop, and dozens more counties leading by example. Many Texans waited for hours in long lines to cast their early vote. 

“Americans are banding together to cast their ballots,” said Tatum Owens, advocacy associate at Progress Texas. “Despite voter suppression and intimidation attempts, like Senate Bill 1 — which specifically targeted Harris County, non-English speaking, and disabled voters, plus vital protections for mail in ballots and voting assistance — Texans are fighters, building a long lasting democracy that upholds our most basic voting and abortion rights.”

“Our ancestors fought fascism overseas in World War II, and now it’s our time to stop fascism in America,” said Kathleen Thompson, executive director at Progress Texas. “We don’t have to risk our lives in battle — all we have to do is vote. We ask all patriotic Texans to join progressives in standing up for our futures and our freedoms.”
