5,400 Texans to Texas Senate: Defund Anti-Abortion Group

Texans across state demand Texas stop playing politics with women’s health program.

When news broke that the state’s health commission granted $1.6 million in taxpayer dollars to an anti-abortion group that provides no health care services, thousands of Texans took action.

That’s right, Texas gave the second largest contract in its new women’s health program — an already woefully underperforming program — to a group with zero experience providing — or coordinating the provision of — women’s health care services.

Today, at a Texas Senate Health and Human Services committee hearing, Progress Texas and NARAL Pro-Choice Texas delivered testimony on behalf of more than 5,400 Texans, demanding that Texas stop playing politics with the state’s women’s health program.

We’ve also asked that the State’s Auditor investigate the state’s contract with the Heidi Group - and you can check it out below - but we still need you to take action too.

Tell Texas officials that they have no business inserting an anti-abortion activist and her anti-abortion group in between Texas women and their access to health care.
