Content Contributors

Progress Texas is seeking content contributors for Spring and Summer 2020. Ideal candidates are experts or emerging experts in their field and able to provide unique, credible insight. We're looking for submissions on these issues: abortion access, voting rights, immigration, health care, economic empowerment, LGBTQIA+ equality, or criminal justice (including issues such as homelessness and marijuana policy reform). 

This is a great opportunity to showcase your own knowledge and work with one of the most well-known progressive organizations in Texas as we lead up to the 2020 election. 
 

Who We Are

Progress Texas is a non-profit media organization working to promote progressive values in our state. For almost 10 years we have been the leading progressive voice in Texas media that stands up for the left, fights the right, and advocates for issues important to a growing number of people in our state. 

Last year our team generated 40 million online impressions, more than 500 print and broadcast news stories, and we’d like you to help us continue to amplify the progressive message in 2019 and beyond. Learn more on our Who We Are page, and follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
 

Duties

Write one article per month for progresstexas.org related to abortion access, voting rights, immigration, health care, economic empowerment, LGBTQIA+ equality, or criminal justice. Articles should be: 

  • At least 500 words

  • At least two sources (news, scientific, or quotes from interviews accepted)

  • Relevance to the current election cycle or news stories

Contributors should be prepared to pitch articles, participate in weekly calls with Progress Texas, and check-in on a regular basis with Progress Texas editors.  We're looking for submissions on these issues: abortion access, voting rights, immigration, health care, economic empowerment, LGBTQIA+ equality, or criminal justice (including issues such as homelessness and marijuana policy reform). 

Compensation & Time Commitment   

Contributors will earn $100 for each completed article. 

Weekly phone check-ins are required with Progress Texas. Content contributors will begin mid-February and end mid-June. Dates are flexible. 
 

Qualifications 

The ideal candidate will be:

  • An expert or emerging expert in their field, providing unique, credible insight to the issues

  • A progressive professional, activist, or something in between 

  • Committed to progressive issues and ideals

  • Creative and willing to push the envelope

  • Excellent at written communication
