U.S. Senate

Hegar is an Air Force veteran who successfully took on the Pentagon’s ban on women serving in direct ground combat. Now, she’s taking on Senator John Cornyn, who has consistently attempted to bar Texans’ access to affordable health care.

Railroad Commission

This race has nothing to do with railroads! It’s our poorly-named energy commission and it regulates the oil and gas industry. It’s our most pivotal decision-maker on climate change!

Texas Supreme Court

Earlier this year the all-Republican Texas Supreme Court denied opening up vote by mail to all Texans as a safe alternative to polling places, and they did it while working from home. Vote for these four strong women and we can leave those justices at home for good.

Texas Court of Criminal Appeals

This Court is the last resort for all criminal matters in the state. The court is currently fully Republican, making flipping these three-seats even more important to bring justice and balance to the bench.

District 21

One thing to know: Incumbent Republican Chip Roy used a procedural move to single handedly hold up a hurricane relief bill in 2019, you can single handedly throw him out in 2020.

STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION

The State Board of Education decides what goes into textbooks, but the board is run by right wing zealots. We can flip control of the board and change the future of Texas education if we flip three seats in 2020.

District 1

Perez is running for reelection to represent 40 counties in West Texas. She spearheaded policy creating a statewide course in Mexican American Studies and African-American Studies; making Texas the only state in the nation to offer these courses to all high school students.

Bell-Metereau is a teacher and professor at Texas State University and, now that conservative extremist Ken Mercer is vacating the seat, has a real chance to win and build a progressive majority on the state board.

TEXAS HOUSE

The Texas House of Representatives is composed of 150 members, each elected for a two-year term. Alongside the Texas State Senate, it forms the legislative branch of the Texas state government and works alongside the governor of Texas to create laws and establish a state budget. The legislature only needs nine seats to flip in favor of Democrats in 2020.

District 121 (San Antonio)

This district was won by Beto O’Rourke in 2018, and Montoya would be the first Democrat, the first Latina, and the youngest person to ever represent this district.
