U.S. Senate

Railroad Commission

This race has nothing to do with railroads! It’s our poorly-named energy commission and it regulates the oil and gas industry. It’s our most pivotal decision-maker on climate change!

District 2

Ladjevardian is a lawyer, mother of two, breast cancer survivor, immigrant, and political activist taking on one of Trump’s favorite Republicans, Dan Crenshaw.

District 7

In 2018, Rep. Fletcher defeated nine-term Republican incumbent Rep. John Culberson by five percentage points, becoming the first Democrat to represent the district since its creation in 1967, and the first woman to represent the district.

District 10

This is a flippable district and Siegel is running on a progressive platform. He came within 3% in this race last cycle - high turnout can help flip this district in 2020.

District 22

Because this district is one of the most diverse in Texas, Kulkarni’s campaign reaches out to infrequent voters in their own neighborhoods and languages, including Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil and Mandarin. If elected, he would have become the first Asian-American ever to serve in the Texas delegation.

STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION

The State Board of Education decides what goes into textbooks, but the board is run by right wing zealots. We can flip control of the board and change the future of Texas education if we flip three seats in 2020.

District 6

As a history and government teacher, Palmer is the only current teacher running for the State Board of Education, making her familiar with curriculum issues.

TEXAS HOUSE

The Texas House of Representatives is composed of 150 members, each elected for a two-year term. Alongside the Texas State Senate, it forms the legislative branch of the Texas state government and works alongside the governor of Texas to create laws and establish a state budget. The legislature only needs nine seats to flip in favor of Democrats in 2020. 

District 26 (Sugar Land)

This district was won by Beto O’Rourke in 2018, and incumbent Republican Rick Miller knew better than to seek reelection. This seat is absolutely flippable!

District 28 (Richmond)

Markowitz drew national attention during a special election for this district in Jan. 2020, and is back on the ballot to flip this seat!

District 29 (Pearland)

District 126 (Spring)

Republican incumbent Sam Harless backed away from Medicaid expansion at a time when the COVID-19 pandemic made access to health care more important than ever.

District 129 (Houston)

Alix is running against three-term incumbent Republican Dennis Paul, whose extremist views include being anti-abortion and believing that marriage is only between “a man and a woman.” WTH?!”

District 132 (Katy)

Calanni flipped this seat in 2018, and now the former legislator, Republican Mike Schofield, is trying to run against her again. This is a seat to protect!

District 134 (West University Place)

This district was won by Beto O’Rourke in 2018, and Johnson will expand Medicaid, fund COVID-19 vaccines for all Texans, and pass common-sense gun safety reforms. She says joining the LGBTQ Caucus would be one of the first things she does if elected.

District 135 (Houston)

This district was won by Beto O’Rourke and within .1% (yes, that decimal is correct) of flipping in 2018. With Bacy on the ticket and the Republican retiring after seeing the writing on the wall, this is one of our most flippable seats in the Texas House.
