The Biden/Harris team is running strong in Texas and have been leading in many polls. This could be the year our state flips! The key is turnout everywhere.

U.S. Senate

Hegar is an Air Force veteran who successfully took on the Pentagon’s ban on women serving in direct ground combat. Now, she’s taking on Senator John Cornyn, who has consistently attempted to bar Texans’ access to affordable health care.

Railroad Commission

This race has nothing to do with railroads! It’s our poorly-named energy commission and it regulates the oil and gas industry. It’s our most pivotal decision-maker on climate change!

Earlier this year the all-Republican Texas Supreme Court denied opening up vote by mail to all Texans as a safe alternative to polling places, and they did it while working from home. Vote for these four strong women and we can leave those justices at home for good.

The U.S. Congress makes laws that influence our daily lives. It holds hearings to inform the legislative process, conducts investigations to oversee the executive branch, and serves as the voice of the people and the states in the federal government.

District 3

This area is a steadily diversifying district that Democrats are hoping to flip this year, and employment attorney Seikaly would be the first Arab American congresswoman from Texas.

District 24

This seat was long held by U.S. Rep. Kenny Marchant, a retiring Tea Party Republican. If elected, Valenzuela would become the first Black Latina in Congress.

District 32

Voting rights attorney Rep. Allred made strides during his first term to lower prescription drug costs and secure the Garland VA Medical Center. He initially flipped this district in 2018.

TEXAS HOUSE

The Texas House of Representatives is composed of 150 members, each elected for a two-year term. Alongside the Texas State Senate, it forms the legislative branch of the Texas state government and works alongside the governor of Texas to create laws and establish a state budget. The legislature only needs nine seats to flip in favor of Democrats in 2020. 

District 66 (Plano)

This district was won by Beto O’Rourke in 2018, and the Republican incumbent is an anti-vaxxer who voted against Texas women, including opposing requiring insurance companies to cover ovarian cancer screenings.

District 67 (Plano)

This district was won by Beto O’Rourke in 2018, and the conservative incumbent is another anti-vaxxer who tried to ban abortion in the state during the 2019 legislative session.

District 102 (Richardson)

Rep. Ramos was part of the group of 2019 Freshman who shook up the house, and is now seeking re-election. After having her daughter at 15, she went back to school and earned a law degree.

District 105 (Irving)

Rep. Meza flipped this seat in 2018, and has most recently advocated for the health care and education of foster children during COVID-19.

District 108 (Dallas)

This district was won by Beto O’Rourke in 2018, when Cattanach also brought the district within 1%. This year, your vote can help Cattanach send conservative extremist Morgan Meyer packing!

District 112 (Richardson)

Beto O’Rourke won this district in 2018, and 12-year incumbent Republican Angie Chen-Button recently flip flopped to say she’d expand Medicaid, yet she’s voted against it every chance. Chambers promised to make health care a top priority.

District 113 (Garland)

Rep. Bowers has most recently been an advocate for COVID-19 data transparency and resources, especially concerning the virus’ disproportionate impact on Black Texans.
