Development Associate

Progress Texas is a non-profit media organization working to promote progressive messages and actions in our state. For 10 years we have been the leading progressive voice in Texas media that stands up for the left, fights the right, and advocates for issues important to a growing number of people in our state. Each year our team generates millions of online impressions and hundreds of print and broadcast news stories for the progressive movement - and we’d like you to help us keep it going.

Texas is the fastest growing state in the nation, yet our political leaders do not always reflect the opinions and priorities of a growing number of people in our state. 

That’s where you come in.

We’re looking for a Development Associate to help cultivate and grow our donor relationships and fundraising program. This includes coordinating our online donor program, donor communications and meetings, event planning, and support with our webstore. Applicants should be innovative, results oriented, and interested in working in nonprofits, fundraising, politics, and/or advocacy. The goal of this position is to strengthen and grow our programs to build a more progressive Texas.  

Location: Austin 

Job Description:

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Maintain and expand our base of monthly and one-time donors 

  • Support efforts to cultivate existing donors and identify prospective supporters

  • Schedule call time and coordinate donor meetings with Executive Team

  • Work closely with the Executive Director, Managing Director,  and Board on fundraising events and donor solicitations

  • Assist in organizing fundraising events 

  • Maintain database, tracking, and acknowledgment systems

  • Help prepare materials for donor meetings and events

  • Work with digital team to create online fundraising campaigns and emails

  • Coordinate materials for webstore
     

Qualifications

  • One year of experience within one of the following areas: fundraising, political campaigns, or the Texas Legislature. 

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced campaign-style work environment, and successfully balance and meet deadlines 

  • Experience managing a database or CRM

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented

  • Strong critical thinking skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable interacting with the public 

  • A commitment to progressive values including our primary issue ares of voting rights and abortion rights, as well as support and understanding for issues such as immigrant rights, LGBTQ equality, racial justice, criminal justice reform, access to affordable care, fighting climate change, and more.

Compensation: Salary is competitive and based on experience. Progress Texas offers excellent medical, dental, and vision benefits, and an IRA with an organizational match.

Hours: We are committed to a healthy work-life balance, but we are also committed to standing up for progress at times that often occur outside of regular business hours. That said, when necessary, it is important that our team have an ability to work weekends and evenings.
