New Poll Finds 63% of Texans Support Hearings for SCOTUS Vacancy
A new poll finds that 63% of Texas voters want a confirmation hearing for Merrick Garland, President Obama's nominee to fill the Supreme Court vacancy created by the death of Antonin Scalia.
Merrick Garland, who is currently enduring the longest confirmation delay in Supreme Court history, found support across party lines. According to Public Policy Polling (PPP), who conducted the poll: "73% of Democrats, 63% of independents, and even 55% of Republicans support moving Garland's nomination forward by holding those hearings."
The poll was of likely Texas voters, and was conducted from August 12-14. You can find the poll, along with every publicly released poll in Texas since 2010, at our own Texas Polling Center, or viewed below.
